ABOUT us

SOUTH-WESTERN Flavours
and Time to savour Them

Welcome to your getaway on the Alentejo coast, the one that whets your appetite.

Every Octant is a tribute to its location. They are places where you will find care and attention, peace and freedom, with no time constraints. As well as rare emotion, in-depth knowledge, and unique encounters and experiences that you will remember forever.

Here, in Santiago do Cacém, we pay tribute to the Alentejo of tasty traditions, from the most deeply-rooted to the most contemporary. After all, we are like a gigantic kitchen: a kitchen with accommodation, where you create among friends, where you tell stories with a glass of wine in one hand and a recipe to share with someone in the other. We are always happy to teach you everything we know, but we are just as keen to learn from our visitors. We all give a little bit of ourselves; so, rather than offering just another hotel stay, we give you the most genuine of culinary experiences. To do so, we rely on Chef Luís Batalha and his team’s many years of experience and dedication to Alentejo cuisine, from the art of bread-making to traditional sweets and desserts. Whether you want a more structured programme or prefer to decide on a whim, we will arouse your curiosity, and whet your appetite, but at your pace.

Indeed, this is a space where the time needed to grow, harvest, and transform is the yardstick for everything. Where the regeneration and circularity of the people, production, and local activities heighten all of the Vicentine area’s singularities and all of the sustainability practices that we want to see valued along every part of the coast, so that we can protect it. And this, we promise, will always make your journey more flavourful.

This is what it means to be free. It is having the time for what matters, turning it into good memories, and returning to them over and over again.
